THE TOOL KIT
Here are some of the amazing tools I employ to execute the visualization process. Engineering Visualization is accurately materializing a vision into a cognitive story that is easy to understand, easy to use, deployable, and generates measureable results.
APPLE
Avid fan of Apple products, design, organization and philosophy. I have a long history in utilization and adoption. I've deployed features of the iPad and iPhone in business settings. I utilize my MacBook Pro as my creative platform. I am excellent with trouble-shooting these devices.
MICROSOFT
Traditionally trained in Microsoft products, I am very familiar with the the typical Office Suite using Live365: Windows 10, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc. In recent years, I have deployed the Surface Pro in business settings with great success. It is a powerful platform handling data instensive applications where a portable and adaptiple footprint is critical.
TABLEAU
A highly versatile data analytics visualization tool, Tableau is currently my favorite application for generating real-time dashboards, on-the-fly, for evaluatiing complex data. In what may have taken days to wrap your head around the replationships in a complex data set and generate a report for attorneys, executives, stake holders, etc., Tableau provides a highly dynamic tool set to visualize various data relationships from multiple sources and publish them with just a few clicks. Simply a very powerful communications tool for any size business.
ADOBE CREATIVE CLOUD
Providing the best media editing applications for business, I am very proficient in most of the applications in the Creative Cloud production suite, including: AfterEffects, Premiere, PhotoShop, Illustrator, InDesign, Lightroom, Media Encoder, Flash, etc. Currently exploring Experience Design (XD) for mobile application development.
POWER POINT
I separate PowerPoint from the Office suite as it is the defacto standard for business presentations. It's ubiquity and general ease of use make it an ideal application to collaborate over the development of a presentation. Expert-level experience with application can produce spectacular animations.
3D STUDIO MAX
I began my career 3D modelling in Autocad and Solidworks. Although, trained in 3D Studio Max, I am familiar with several other 3D modelling and animation programs, including: Sketchup, Modo, Blender and Softplan. I now direct animators by creating wireframes and storyboard sequences for animation.
WIX WEBSITE DESIGN AND HOSTING
I've developed and manage several websites for clients over the years. This includes micro-sites for strategic communications to branding and marketing for small companies. HTML5 based web applications provide a quick and powerful tool for web development and integration of HTML 5 applications. Websites have the ability for mobile device design.
ONCUE MULTIMEDIA PRESENTATION
OnCue is a software platform designed for multimedia presentation. What makes it unique are the abilities to encode data attributes to your media allowing for immediate recall, "on-the-fly", in a presentation setting. My experience is for litigation, generating 100s of hours of synced video, 10s of thounsands of pages of documents, animations, audio clips, illustrations, etc. The benefit is stepping away from PowerPoint, presenting and annotating media in real-time without a laborious effort in creating a "canned" presentation.
TRIAL DIRECTOR
Like OnCue, Trial Director is another legal industry standard for presentation of visual data for which I have received certification as a trainer. Although most ubiquitous in the courtroom setting for trial, these applications can be used in a variety of ways: shareholder presentations, government hearings, board room meetings, team collaboration settings, etc.
DJI AERIAL VIDEOGRAPHY
These days "drones" are a common place commercial product and somewhat controversial. However, there is a barrier to employing them. Higher level products deliver 4K imaging and videography, live video feeds, incredile flight dynamics, pre-programmed flight and camera patterns, etc. The FAA is constantly evolving the regulation around these amazing tools. I am FAA registered and experienced in flight videography.
AUTOPILOT AUTOFLIGHT PROGRAMMING
Autoflight is an amazing mobile app for flying the DJI drones. This app allows for several modes of flight used to capture stunning HD videography. These include Follow, Follow on Follow, Orbit, Zipline and Waypoint programming - with pre-programmed camera control. The result is safe and accurate flight patterns with amazingly smooth camera shots. Impossible to achieve with manual control.
IROBOT TERRESTRIAL VIDEOGRPAHY
As with aerial drones, terrestrial drones maintain endless potential for capturing impossible imagery without putting an operator in harms way. The utilization of these devices is indispensable in forensic engineering, commercial construction, property management, etc.
FLIR INFRARED CAMERAS
For several years, I have employed FLIR camera systems. In a residential property management setting in New England, I would survey homes for water damage and thermal efficiency prior to opening walls and committing to a large investment. I would generate reports that were welcomed by property owners and insurance companies.
SYNOLOGY PORTABLE DATA STORAGE AND NETWORKING
In my experience, traveling with volumes of shareable data is customary. I use Synology disk stations to capture a project and bring it to a remote site for collaboration. RAID capability and unpredictability of VPN or "the cloud" make this tool a critical component to any remote, team-based project.
QUICKBASE RELATIONAL DATABASES AND APPLICATIONS
I have built several data-rich applications using Quickbase. For conceptual database modelling or application in a start-up business environment, the features of this utility are countless for collaboration, work-flow distribution, communication, notifications - name it, a custom enterprise application can be built here.
SPROUT DYNAMIC VIDEO HOSTING
Many of my projects have required hosting video on a large scale and have required both security sensitivity and collaborative capabilities. Sprout is an excellent tool for creating and maintaining a video database with the administrative tools a small business needs.
